Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) is a series of
lectures and presentations on art, science and technology organized

YASMIN March 2009 Discussion: Artists as Inventors
A new generation of artists is making technical and social inventions
in pursuit of their artistic production. There is new interest in the
work of artists from laboratories, companies and public organizations
seeking ways of innovating in science and engineering. The YASMIN

Leonardo/Olats Publishes "Les Basiques: L'Animation numérique" by
Véronica Camacho
Leonardo/Olats is happy to announce the publication of Les Basiques:
L'Animation numérique by Veronica Camacho in The Basics Series
(available only in French) on the Leonardo/Olats web site. In this
third volume of The Basics Series, Camacho recalls the history and
techniques of computer animation but also its aesthetic and artistic
trends together with its many applications. The Basics Series of
Leonardo/Olats is a series of introductory online books, each
dedicated to a specific topic within the art, science and technology
field. Editor: Annick Bureaud. The Basics Series is supported by the

CalArts Herb Alpert School of Music Renews Affiliate Membership
The Herb Alpert School of Music at California Institute of the Arts
offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Programs
include: the Performer-Composer Program, including African American
Improvisational Music; Composition, including Experimental Sound
Practices; Jazz; performance programs in African Music and Dance,
Balinese and Javanese Music and Dance, Brass, Guitar, Harp, North
Indian Music, Percussion, Piano/Keyboard, Collaborative Keyboard,
Strings, Voice, Winds, World Music, World Percussion; Music
Technology; and Musical Arts. All interact in a lively,
interdisciplinary atmosphere guided by principles of artistic
excellence, experimentation, critical reflection and independent
inquiry. Students work alongside faculty to explore new musical
possibilities and contribute to the evolution of music practice as
composers, performers and producers who will help shape the global
musical landscape of tomorrow. Leonardo/ISAST welcomes CalArts Herb

Call for Submissions: ACM CREATIVITY & COGNITION 2009
Everyday Creativity: Shared Languages and Collective Action, October
27-30, 2009, Berkeley Art Museum, CA, USA. We invite submissions for:
Full Papers, Art Exhibition, Live Performances, Demonstrations,
Posters, Workshops, Tutorials, and Graduate Symposium. Keynotes:
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Professor of Psychology & Management, USA;
JoAnn Kuchera-Morin, Director, Allosphere Research Laboratory, USA;
Jane Prophet, Professor of Interdisciplinary Computing, UK. All
submissions will be peer reviewed. Printed proceedings, published by
ACM Press, will be available at the conference and will be included
