In memoriam: Bulat Galeyev
We are very saddened to report the passing of Bulat Galeyev who died
January 5, 2009. Galeyev was a member of the Leonardo Editorial Board
since 1987. He was also head of SKB Prometheus Scientific and
Research Institute for Experimental Aesthetics (affiliated with the
Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan and Kazan State Technical
University, Kazan, Russia) for 15 years. He was well known for his

Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) is a series of
lectures and presentations on art, science and technology organized
by Piero Scaruffi on behalf of Leonardo/ISAST. This year LASER
expands to a monthly series, with programs in downtown San Francisco
and now in Mountain View, CA. Join us for the next LASER at the SETI
Institute in Mountain View, CA, with feature presentations by Amy

Join Leonardo Education Forum at CAA
The Leonardo Education Forum (LEF) will participate in the upcoming
College Art Association Conference, February 25-28, 2009, in Los
Angeles, CA. LEF-sponsored events include a business meeting, the

Technology Education in a Global Context" and a special visit to the

Program
Under the direction of Prof. Peter Weibel since 1999, ZKM | Center
for Art and Media (Karlsruhe, Germany) probes new media in theory and
practice, tests their potential with in-house developments, presents
possible uses in exemplary form and promotes debate on the form our
information society is taking. Working closely with the State Academy
for Design in Karlsruhe, Germany, and other institutes, the ZKM |
Center for Art and Media provides a forum for science, art, politics
and finance. ZKM | Karlsruhe consists of the ZKM | Museum of
Contemporary Art, the ZKM | Media Museum, the ZKM | Institute for
Visual Media, the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics, the ZKM |
Institute for Media, Education and Economics and the ZKM | Laboratory
for Antique Video Systems. Leonardo/ISAST is pleased to welcome ZKM |
Center for Art and Media as a new member in the Leonardo Affiliate

Call for Submissions: Bridges: Mathematical Connections in Art, Music
and Science
The Bridges conference, scheduled to take place July 26-29, 2009 at
The Banff Centre, will feature presentations of full and short
papers, invited talks, an art exhibition and hands-on workshops.
