Al Hayat, the leading Pan-Arab daily newspaper, is seeking a full-time junior
reporter/administror at its United Nations Bureau. Responsibilities will
include administrative tasks, writing news stories on the United Nations,
assisting the bureau chief with coverage and covering for the bureau chief when
necessary. Tasks will include research, pitching stories, preparing
quotes, attending press conferences and conducting interviews.
The appropriate candidate MUST be fluent in Arabic and English, and
must be able to write and type news stories in Arabic. A demonstrated interest
in international news and the Middle East is required. The post is
available immediately.
This is a full-time salary position, and hours will vary depending on
news of the day. The chosen candidate will sign a three month, trial
contract. Upon completion of the trial period, a full-time employment
contract will be negotiated. The pay is tailored for a beginner such
as a recent college graduate who is already legally in the US. If the
person proves to be the right one for the job after the three months
trial period, Al Hayat would consider applying for the correct visa
for a longer commitment.
