  A Tabla and Taiko Drumming Event

  Free and Open to the Public


  Master percussionists Karim Nagi and Elaine Fong demonstrate Egyptian 
  Tabla and Japanese Taiko, which will be followed by a joint performance.

  Elaine Fong is founder and artistic director of Odaiko New England and a 
  member of Marco Leinhard's group, Taikoza. She has received instruction from 
  Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka of San Francisco Taiko Dojo, Kenny Endo of Taiko 
  Center of the Pacific; and Tiffany Tamaribuchi of Sacramento Taiko Dan.

  Karim Nagi is a native Egyptian who has lived in Boston for 20 
  years. Karim performs Arabic, Turkish and Andalusian hand percussion,  
  including the tabla, riqq and segat/zills. He is on the faculty of the New 
  England Conservatory of Music, and leads the Sharq Arabic Music Ensemble.
