Summer Internship Opportunity

The long term vision of the Center for Higher Education in the Middle East, Inc. is the creation of a system of linked university
campuses throughout the Middle East and North Africa, which will provide a permanent network of interconnected academic centers that
foster academic excellence, critical thinking, and coexistence for all communities in the region.

During its seven years of existence, the University of the Middle East Project has implemented programs in Boston, USA, Casablanca,
Morocco, and Toledo, Spain in the fields of Teacher Education, Sustainable Development and Governance. Participants of these
programs are from throughout the Middle East and North Africa and engage in an intensive one-month educational experience. UME
programs are designed to enhance academic and practical skills, as well as to promote open communication and mutual respect and
understanding.

PLEASE SEE OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION AT: <http://www.ume.org/> http://www.ume.org

Intern will work closely with UME program director to implement a program focusing on teacher education during the summer of 2005 at
Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, USA. Participants are 28 secondary school teachers from throughout the Middle East and North
Africa.

Duties will include program administration, conflict prevention/resolution, logistical support, event planning, and research. Boston
based graduate students with concentrations in conflict resolution, the Middle East, or education are preferred.

UME does not provide housing in Boston during the summer. Interns are also required to have an interview in person with UME staff at
the Cambridge offices during the last week of May/first week of June.

This is a wonderful opportunity with an exciting organization, where an intern assumes a lot of responsibility and can have a
profound effect on the organization and its activities.
