I think we're missing the gist of Rabih's reply...  without shooting down
anyone's ideas, but there are already several grassroots movements that 
espouse
secularism/non-violence etc. (e.g. www.hayyabina.org -- the website doesn't
exist anymore which is a bit telling, the grass in lebanon may be 
rotten at its
roots)

staying with the gardening theme, if we want to let a thousand flowers bloom
from the various ideas/arguments/fights on here, perhaps an invitation should
be sent to everyone about lebanon-discussions at mit.edu in order to revive that
list?
