Kerberos 1.11 as well as versions from 1.8 to 1.10 are not officially
supported on RHEL5 and will not be.
The options are EPEL or self build but in either case there is no vendor
support, only community support or self support.
Per Simo libev from EPEL would meet Jonathan's need without need to
rebuild it.
Support for this case is no different from support of Kerberos 1.11 on
RHEL5.
