Is libkrb5util available for Mac O S X?

No, and it will not be in Kerberos for Unix version 1.3 either.

I'm assuming that qpopper was using the compat_recvauth function.  I
suggest getting the sources to that function from a MIT Kerberos
release and integrating them into qpopper.
