Can't change Kerb password on Mac OS, fine under Windows

Scott, Marshall, etc:

In the interest of seeing if I could duplicate a client's problem, I've just tried changing my Kerberos password and can't get it to work on any version of Mac OS/Kerberos. Change works fine with Windows

1) I was using

- Mac OS 9.2.2
- Kerberos 4.0.1

and while I can get tickets just fine, my efforts to change my password yield the following:
Kerberos change password failed:
Connection timed out

2) I was using
- Mac OS 10.2.1
- Kerberos 4.5

and while I can get tickets just fine, my efforts to change my password yield the following:
Kerberos change password failed:
Operation timed out

3) I was using
- Windows 2000 Pro
- Leash 32 version 2.1.1.1

and successfully changed my password.

Can you tell me anything about this problem?
