Error Messages in libkrb

I am trying to write an iPlanet Plugin.  What I need is a function that will
return the error text?  I cannot find it.  All I see is com_err, but it only
goes to the console.  I did find a function error_message, but I dont think I
can access it from the code for the plugin.
