[krbdev.mit.edu #4489] IRIX build w/ GCC fails to use export list

If one compiles w/ the native cc - the shared library export list 
is used.  For gcc it is not.

Need to handle two scenarios - when gcc uses the native ld and when
it uses GNU ld...
