Password reset not working

Hi,
I tried using kpasswd in my test laptop (Ubuntu 12.04), getting the
same error "Authentication Error" while using kpasswd.
test at zs-u121:~$ kpasswd test
Password for test at ZMEDIA.COM
Enter new password:
Enter it again:
