Scrip-table Way To Verify Passwords

Hi,

I am using kerberos as an authentication module for OpenAM (a access
management solution) it is working great except for when a users
password has expired.

I am wondering if given a principal name and a password if that password
can be verified either in a shell script or some java code?

I really just want to know that the given password is the users current
password.
