readline in kadmin when no system ss?

On CentOS, there appears to be no ss subsystem library, or at least, I
can't find one after 30 minutes of searching (searching for a library
called "subsystem" is a bit difficult, however, so I might have missed
it).

kadmin et al. use the src/util/ss version if configure doesn't find one,
but the included version doesn't use readline, so there's no history or
editing, which makes life painful.

I'm thinking about patching the ss/listen.c to use readline, but I
figured I'd ask if anybody's already done this, or if I should do it in
a "real" way and contribute the changes back?

Thanks,
Chris
