Secure Endpoints Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of a
Kx.509 Kerberized Certificate Authority Plug-in for Network Identity
Manager. The KCA plug-in is based upon the kx.509 source distribution
from the University of Michigan. With the KCA plug-in, Network
Identity Manager can (optionally) obtain one X.509 certificate for each
Kerberos principal. The KCA certificate can be issued by any KCA server
that can be accessed via a transitive trust relationship between the
realms. Certificates and their associated private keys are stored into
the Windows Certificate Store where they can be used by all Windows SSP
applications.

For applications that support PKCS#11, a module is provided that can be
manually installed. The provide PKCS#11 module has been tested with
both Firefox and Thunderbird.

Downloads of an MSI installer, source code and end-user documentation
can be found at the Secure Endpoints Inc. web page.

Thanks must be given to Fermi National Lab for funding this work, the
many testers and of course Asanka Herath for his continuing efforts at
improving the single sign-on end user experience through Network
Identity Manager.

The KCA plug-in requires Network Identity Manager 1.1.8 which is
distributed as part of MIT Kerberos for Windows 3.1. The plug-in will
be compatible for future Network Identity Manager releases.
