purpose of spnego testing

Hi,
   
  I could not get any notes which have any explaination for the purpose of spnego test
  in kerberos.The doubt in my mind is that it is applicable only for client or both (client & server) .please let me know if you need further information or clarification on this and 
  please provide helpful detail on it asap.
