Build problems with Suse 9.2

Oh... the fact that the library isn't there might've been cached in  
"config.cache" in the top level of the build tree.  Delete that file,  
run configure again, and see if that fixes it.  Sorry, I should've  
thought to mention that sooner.  (Another issue that the configure- 
time fix should take care of, I hope.)
