moving from NT 4.0 authentication to kerberos

We have an environment that utilizes a NT 4.0 domain and a linux
mail/web server. I am at the point of looking at replacing my PDC.
Rather than move to a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment, I am
courting the idea of moving to another Linux server that would handle
kerberos authentication and merging our Windows network and Linux mail
accounts. Being fairly new in the Linux world, I'd like to get a bit
of perspective on the scope of this project.

Outside of the the PDC and BDC I have 4 Windows 2000 member servers
that act as file, print and application servers. The domain
controllers handle about 400 accounts.

At this point I have successfully set up a KDC using Fedora Core 2,
and am working on getting client authentication to actually work.

thanks for any help that you can you provide.
