newbie question regarding sclient and sserver

Experimenting with kerberos5 on RH 9.0 Linux, trying to learn it.
After I have set up a KRB5 KDC, I thought I try sclient and sserver out. 
I added the host principal for both client and server, updated keytab on
both sides, added principal for the sample/host at realm on server side.
When I ran sclient, I got 
"sendauth rejected, error reply is:"
"Wrong principal in request."
I am stumped.  What did I do wrong? how to fix it ...
