krb5_cc_register() fails

I'm trying to run an application which calls krb5_cc_register() but
gets the following error:


error: krb5_cc_register failed - Credentials cache type is already registered.


The application treats this a fatal error and then exits.

Should this be considered a fatal error?  Could somebody explain the use of this 
routine a bit more?
