I suppose you might have a point, but I still cringe at the idea of
logging in over the network as root. However, assuming the network's
running and available, presumably the KDC is reachable, and there's no
need to check the local password file for root. Mind you, I didn't mean
to use 'ksu', but rather 'su' once you're logged in, to be root on the
local machine only (frankly that's beside the point, of course; your
point still stands).
I could still be wrong, but I'm fairly certain the intention was to be
able to access Slackware's single-user mode, which still requires
knowledge of the root password to access.
