where is gss_mech_initialize()?

I've download Kerberos 1.2.3 and built it on HP-UX 11.11. 
/usr/lib/libgss.sl is returning GSS_S_BAD_MECH.  Why is there no
gss_mech_initialize() in the 1.2.3 source?  I think that's what libgss
is looking for.
