From anita1 at MIT.EDU Tue Jan 27 13:57:39 2004 From: anita1 at MIT.EDU (anita chan) Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2004 13:57:39 -0500 (EST) Subject: [Itself] Harvard Anthro/Media Studies course (fwd) Message-ID: Hi All, I thought some of you might be interested in a course Rosemary Coombe is teaching at the Anthropology Dept. at Harvard this spring titled, "[Trans]National Identities, New Media/tions and the Place of the Public". The syllabus for the course is attached -- it looks specifically at the links between communication technologies and national identity, and although it has a focus on Canada, the readings also deal more broadly with the subject of multicultural states under conditions of neoliberalism, globalization, and the intensification of migrancy and cultural flows. I took a course with Rosemary last semester on Intellectual Property and Human Rights, and her work meshes nicely with many of the conversations we've had in the group regarding technology, cultural and political transformations, and "information societies". Hope you're all still enjoying the break! anita ps. Apologies for any cross postings! -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
