If you are not already aware of it, there is a two-hour IAP session
devoted to Image Tools scheduled for next Thursday, January 18
devoted to Image Tools. The session begins at noon. You will find
links the announcement and maps below.

The Image Tool Session will feature demonstrations of a number of
image tools, most provided by members of the product teams. Following
the demonstrations, there will be a panel where the presenters will
answer questions.

The session will examine the activities that are common among
educational users of image tools. Underlying each tool is a workflow
that encompasses these activities. The premise of the session is
that when your image tool selection process should begin with a
consideration of the workflow that you expect to use, rather than the
tool features that seems most compelling.

I am especially pleased that Ann Whiteside will present. Ann is the
head of the MIT Rotch Library, which houses the Rotch Visual
Collection. As the use of image tools becomes more pervasive, and
tools offer access to more repositories, repository services moves
beyond simple storage. The libraries provide a resource to help tool
providers address issues related to institutional content management
while preserving the new technology vision.

Here is a list of the demonstrations in alphabetical order that
includes their institutional affiliation and web site. The actual
order of the presentations is still in flux:

Pachyderm - open source organization with support from NMC - http://
