Hi folks,
I'm writing to confirm the iMobileU concall for tomorrow (Friday) at 1pm
EST. We have a lot we'd like to talk about. :-)
MIT has successfully released version 2.0 of the MIT iPhone app, and
those changes have been made available on GitHub
(http://github.com/modolabs/MIT-Mobile-Framework). We're still in a
transitional phase between svn and git, but we're planning on cutting
over entirely and doing all dev on GitHub after the 2.1 mobile web
release in July.
We've also been contacted by the online services team at Bucknell
University, who are planning to implement mobile versions of many of
their web services using the MIT framework as a starting point. It's
great to see another university come on board.
We've got some exciting new releases planned for this summer. We're
looking at releasing 2.1 of the mobile web application (with the news
module) in July, and having an Android native app available by
September.
But beyond this, we really want to focus on improving the platform
over the next few months. This includes things like:
* Continuing documentation efforts.
* Cleaning up how configuration is handled.
* Simplifying server deployment using RPMs.
* Improving caching.
* Examining forks of the codebase to see what new functionality can be
brought back in.
* Refactoring our iPhone code to make it more reusable, and packaging
them as libraries.
* Implementing authentication for the iPhone app.
Going forward, Modo Labs is pursuing clients in both education and
commercial spaces, to continue to do work with this framework and
build it into a more compelling platform. We're really looking
forward to hearing about what you folks are up to, and what kinds of
plans you have cooking.
Thank you.
Dave
