All-

This is an attempt to follow-up on some earlier messages about native
applications. I was wondering if anyone had considered deploying an
iPhone app that acts as a wrapper for an institutions mobile web
website? At the time same time that I created our mobile site a
student independently created an iPhone app so we don't necessarily
have a need for it but wanted to throw it out there as an idea. While
the site wouldn't have access to certain hardware like the camera it
could still cache data for offline access, use geolocation, and, most
importantly, give a presence in the app store while still leveraging
the work on the mobile website. A few weeks ago I had played around
and created a proof-of-concept. It's insanely simple (like no error
checking simple). Maybe it'd be helpful to other schools.

Think this might be a viable option for schools?
