The Anthropology Department at Colby College is a small, dynamic department focused on cultural anthropology. We invite applications to teach one or two courses in the spring semester of 2025.

Successful candidates will teach either one section of our introduction to cultural anthropology course; or one 300-level seminar and a section of our introduction to cultural anthropology course. The seminar can be based on the candidate’s expertise; we seek topics that will contribute new areas to our offerings. Our introduction to cultural anthropology is capped at 30 and is an introduction to current topics in cultural anthropology; our 300-level seminars are capped at 15 and meet for 2.5 hours.

Applicants must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, with preference given to those with experience teaching in a Liberal Arts setting. Ph.D. (preferred) or advanced ABD. Please submit applications through Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/154423. Include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references.

Applications received by October 4, 2024 will be reviewed in full. Finalists for the position will be asked to submit letters of reference and a teaching philosophy that demonstrates a commitment to the value of inclusive and equitable teaching. Initial interviews will be conducted online. For further information, contact search committee chair Britt Halvorson, bhalvors at colby.edu<mailto:bhalvors at colby.edu>.
