The FARE research endeavor, “EarlyGeoPraxis” (funded by the Italian
Ministry of University and Research, cod. R184WNSTWH), is currently looking
for two postdoctoral fellows with outstanding projects in one of the
following research areas relevant to the FARE project:
1. The history of hydrological practices;
2. The political epistemology of waterscapes;
3. Water heritage and sustainability.

The submission should be uploaded following the on-line procedure as
indicated in the call.
Research profile of the candidates:
Outstanding postdoctoral scholars are invited to apply. The candidates
should hold a PhD degree in areas of relevance to the environmental
humanities, environmental history of science, historical STS, ecological
esthetics and art, or political epistemology.
The candidates are expected to work with fellow team members toward project
goals and develop an original and independent research project within the
above mentioned FARE project areas.
We look forward to receiving applications from scholars of all
nationalities.
The application should entail the following items:
● A letter of motivation,
● Curriculum Vitae with list of publications,
● Relevant publications,
● Description of the research project in one of the research areas of the
FARE endeavor (ca. two pages),
● A copy of the applicant’s PhD certificate,
● Two reference contacts,
● Proof of language abilities (if available).
● Additional mandatory documentation as indicated in the call on the
University official website.
Applications can be submitted in English. In the interview candidates are
expected to present and discuss their research project in English.
Tasks:
The successful candidates are expected to conduct their research in Venice,
to regularly attend the meetings connected with the FARE research group, to
contribute to its activities (e.g., workshops, symposia and conference
panels), to present and discuss their research at the FARE meetings and to
contribute to the success of the endeavor with their publications. The
project has special institutional ties with the UNESCO Chair Water Heritage
and Sustainable Development, THE NEW INSTITUTE Center for Environmental
Humanities (NICHE) in Venice, and the Max Planck Partner Group The Water
City (Berlin-Venice).
