2 year Post Doc - NSF Study of the Algorithmic Workplace

This Fellowship is designed to support an NSF-funded project on the nature of digitally mediated work in the gig economy. The project will use interview, survey and computational methods to understand the risks that platform work entails, the challenges the platform economy poses to various stakeholders, and policies that might ensure that platform-based organizations adopt operational methods that are both equitable and sustainable. The Fellow will join an interdisciplinary team of engineers and social scientists aiming to explore several distinct categories of platform work. The position will require the Fellow to play a central role in the collection and analysis of interview and survey data, aided by graduate research assistants. The Fellow will also participate in the authorship of reports, papers and articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is expected at the time of appointment, in Fall 2020. Review of applications will begin on March 27 and will continue until the position is filled. Northeastern University is committed to recruiting and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce, and welcomes applications from members of historically excluded groups.
