Lecturer in Medical Anthropology/Anthropology of Disability

The Department of Anthropology of Rice University invites applications for a one-year, part-time lecturer in Medical Anthropology or the Anthropology of Disability for academic year 2020-2021. The successful candidate will teach four courses over two semesters, including Medical Anthropology, Anthropology of Disability and two additional undergraduate courses that align personal research interests and expertise with existing departmental course offerings.
The Department seeks applicants with teaching experience in one or more of the following:
Critical approaches to disability
Gender and sexuality
Embodiment
Anthropology of biomedicine and/or biomedical technologies
Feminist STS
Geographical area of expertise: open
Applicants should include the following documents in their initial application:
• Cover letter/Letter of Application of no more than 2 pages that includes teaching and research interests.
• Curriculum Vitae with names, addresses and phone numbers of three references (no letters).
• 1 sample syllabus
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as teaching/course evaluations.
