The University of Virginia’s Corruption Lab for Ethics, Accountability, and the Rule of Law (CLEAR), part of UVA’s Democracy Initiative, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the History of Corruption and Injustice. We welcome candidates whose work covers any region or time period, and who can demonstrate a record of research and writing about corruption’s effects on environmental, social, and/or racial justice.
The initial appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year. In addition to pursuing their own research, the postdoctoral research associate will join CLEAR’s faculty in shaping the activities of the Lab, and will be encouraged to bring their work to the attention of the public and policymakers. They will also teach one course in the first year and two courses in the second year.
The start date for the position is August 1, 2019. A PhD in history, anthropology, or a related field in the humanities or social sciences is required by that date. The annual salary for the position is $60,000 plus benefits.
