The Department of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor whose work focuses on technologies of globalization, beginning July 1, 2019. Apply by October 1, 2018 for primary consideration. Position open until filled.
We seek a scholar with expertise in technologies that drive globalization across a broad spectrum, with particular interest in cutting edge technologies that shape and/or have shaped the frontiers of globalization. Rubrics of interest include technologies of information, of production, transportation, and security, crime and illicit flows, social media, networks and mobilization, global governance of technology, and global health, as well as intersections among these. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service.
Preferred candidates should include evidence of at least five years of study in the technologies that drive globalization and a publication record that employs an interdisciplinary framework.
This position requires a PhD by time of appointment.
