Required Qualifications: Requirements for PhD in history of technology or a related field must be completed by August 1, 2016. Job begins August 29, 2016.
Preferred Qualifications: Some research publications; 1 or 2 years teaching experience.
Area of Specialization: History of technology that complements strengths in history and technology and related areas at the University.
Areas of Competence: Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the history of technology. Candidates will be assessed according to overall academic preparation in the history of technology: the relevance of their research to the program’s academic priorities and the field of inquiry, evidence of commitment to teaching, and skills as a teacher.
About the Job: This search is for a two-year contract Assistant professor. The competitive salary includes full benefits. The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Technology and American Culture - HSCI 3331 and Ethics in Science and Technology - HSCI 3401 (these two courses often have a small number of graduate students), plus an upper division course in the history of technology or science that would complement the existing course schedule https://www.hstm.umn.edu/undergraduate/courses-offered. The appointee will also be expected to be an active member of the HSTM program and provide advice to graduate students in the history of technology.
