Dear Colleague,

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences sponsors a Visiting Scholars Program, a year-long residency program for scholars in the humanities and social sciences. We are now receiving applications for the 2016-2017 academic year and hope you will encourage junior colleagues to apply. Please note the deadline: October 20, 2015.

Projects from scholars who are completing manuscripts on American history, culture, and public policy from the founding period to the present are eligible for the competition. Untenured junior faculty and qualified postdoctoral scholars are invited to apply.

Through this program, the Academy offers scholars a year for research and writing free from teaching and administrative duties, a collaborative work environment, and the opportunity to interact with the Academy membership, including leaders from every field and discipline. Scholars also have full access to Harvard libraries and other resources, and opportunities to engage in seminars at neighboring institutions. A stipend of up to $65,000 for junior faculty and up to $45,000 for postdoctoral scholars accompanies the award.
