> The Department of Engineering and Society in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks to hire individuals with research and teaching experience in science, technology, and society (STS) beginning Fall 2013. Two non-tenure track, faculty positions are available. One year appointment with possibility of renewal. The salary range is $50,000 - $60,000. We are especially interested in candidates whose interests integrate entrepreneurship, innovation and STS or whose work focuses on sustainability, environmental issues, and emerging technologies. The candidate will be expected to teach the senior thesis sequence, with two courses in the fall and three in the spring. Like other STS classes, these courses will combine STS with writing and professional ethics. The Department of Engineering and Society is responsible for teaching the humanities, social-science, and mathematics courses integral to the education of professional engineers. A Ph.D in STS is desirable, but candidates from the humanities and social sciences are encouraged to apply provided their research addresses the intersection of technology and society.
