> The Department of Engineering and Society (E&S) is seeking an outstanding scholar whose research and teaching embraces a broad topic of concern to professional engineers, STS scholars, and the general public; examples of these topics include, but are not limited to, globalization, sustainability, leadership, applied ethics, the interplay of design, problem-solving, and cognition, and the role of the state and firms in shaping innovation and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will have an active research program and may come from a variety of backgrounds including science and technology studies, engineering, media studies, humanities, and social sciences. The candidate will be expected to play a prominent role in the programs that E&S provides to the School of Engineering and Applied Science (such as the undergraduate thesis, engineering business, or policy internship) as well as building connections to other departments in both the Engineering School and across UVa. A Ph.D. is required and several years of teaching or research experience is preferred. The position is tenure track, with salary commensurate to experience, and will commence Fall 2013.
