Summer 2007 Internship Opportunities

Over wonder what it was like to be in an independent development studio? Wonder
if you can annoy your parents by saying that if and when you grow up, you want
to make video games? Wonder who the souls are that created and brought to life
a Ratchet, a Clank, a Hale, and a Chimera? Well ? this is your chance to step
inside the curved hallways of Insomniac and check it out!  We are looking for
eager and energetic college students who want to know what it is like to work
in a development studio.  We want motivated interns who are interested in
working in the fast paced environment of our Animation Department, Art
Department, and Programming Group.

Animation Internship:
Animation Interns will be: assisting the production team with all aspects of
both in-game and cut-scene animation tasks, such as cleanup, finalizing, adding
movement to secondary appendages, as well as animating simple objects and
scenes. The animation intern will also assist in the testing and evaluation of
new character rigs and department-specific plugins.

Drawing skills and previous experience with Maya is preferred but not required.
Ideal interns will be working towards a BFA in Computer, Traditional, or
Experimental Animation. We will also consider Art, Illustration, or Graphic
Design majors with animation experience. Master?s candidates may apply for
this internship. In order to qualify, you must possess a minimum of 3.5 GPA
documented by unofficial transcripts.

Students must be available to intern 5 days per week/ approx. 50 hours a week.
Duration of internship is flexible.

Art Internship:
The Art interns will be working on prop creation, collision polish, nav mesh
creation, material flagging for sound and effects, texture optimization, game
object placement, batch processing, and asset wrangling.

Ideal interns will be working towards a B.F.A. in Computer Art, Illustration, or
Product Design. In order to qualify, you must possess a minimum of 3.5 GPA
documented by unofficial transcripts.

Students must be available to intern 5 days per week/ approx. 40 hours a week.
Duration of internship is flexible.

Programming Internship:
 We have openings within each of our Gameplay programming departments: Gameplay
Systems, Gameplay Multiplayer, and Gameplay AI/Levels.

Gameplay Systems Interns will be involved in the creation of articulated physics
objects, optimization of game levels both in terms of CPU usage and memory, and
GUI scripting using an embedded language.

Gameplay Multiplayer Interns will be working on improving our lobby, calculating
ranks, creation of a web stats data pipeline and interface, helping with the
design of custom HUD and effects, building a system for automating testing,
implementing special-case refinements for various synchronization scenarios,
and extending game rule-sets to allow for a greater variety of options within
our multiplayer game modes.

Gameplay AI/Levels Intern will be included in game play polish, creating
non-player objects and AI, improving visual effects including explosions,
weapon effects, fire, smoke, and weather.

Ideal interns will be working towards a BS/BSE in Computer Science or Computer
Engineering. We will also consider Physics or Math majors with computer
programming experience. Master?s or PhD candidates may also apply for this
internship. In order to qualify, you must possess a minimum of 3.5 GPA
documented by unofficial transcripts.

Students must be available to intern 5 days per week/ approx. 50 hours a week.
Duration of internship is flexible.

All internships: Candidates must be full-time students enrolled at a college or
university, preferably at either the Junior or Senior status, and be receiving
school credit for these internships.  These are also paid internship at
$15/hour. Relocation reimbursements or housing stipends are not available for
these positions, and internships are based at our headquarters in Burbank
California.

CLEVELAND INDIANS JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:	Intern, Baseball Analytics
SUPERVISOR:	Director, Baseball Operations  / Assistant General Manager
DEPARTMENT:	Baseball
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the Baseball Department with data compilation and analysis projects
relating to the development of various statistical and financial models and to
perform other baseball-related research projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Baseball Department Responsibilities:
?	Assist in the development of advanced techniques to more effectively
evaluate and predict offensive, pitching, and defensive performance, using both
historic scouting and performance databases.
?	Expand upon current statistical adjustment models using advanced
mathematical concepts, regression techniques, and other statistical tools.
?	Build valuation models to isolate and measure the impact of different game
states and individual plays.
?	Work with the Baseball Department on various financial studies, including
examining different types of amateur and professional player markets and/or
specific contracts.
?	Develop risk-assessment models as they pertain to personnel and contract
decisions.
?	Perform other studies and projects as assigned by members of the department.

Information Systems Department Responsibilities:
?	Assist the IS Department in extracting information from large databases for
various data requests from both the Baseball and Business Departments.

Business Department Responsibilities:
?	Perform analytical studies that assist in developing models for optimizing
business-related decisions.

Other Responsibilities
?	Complete other various duties as assigned, including but not limited to
minor league game-charting, filing, copying, and preparing daily press
clippings.
?	Support entire baseball department.
ESSENTIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:

?	Educational background (undergraduate or graduate) in Mathematics,
Statistics, Engineering, Econometrics, Economics, and Finance is preferred.
?	Computer programming experience preferred.
?	Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or other database software
packages; Microsoft Excel; and STATA, SAS, SPSS, or other statistical analysis
software packages.
?	Strong background in regression analysis.
?	Competency to work with and effectively analyze large databases.
?	Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of
individuals including members of the front office, scouts, and field staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
?	Minimum education College graduate
?	Ability to walk and / or stand for entire shift.
?	Ability to work extensive hours, evenings, and weekends required
?	Effective communication with both co-workers and guests.
?	Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and lifting.
