OASIS was formed in response to the growing demand for student
internships/coop?s and talented interns to fill them. Due to diverse
industry markets and low unemployment rates; Orlando/Central Florida?s top
companies need educated, high-achieving students to take advantage of available
internship positions.
The OASIS program organizes every aspect of the internship process; starting
with the application, through their arrival and orientations (including housing
accommodations), scheduled discussions, and finally until the employment
requirements are complete.

Health Career Connection (HCC) inspires and empowers undergraduate students to
more effectively choose public heath and healthcare careers, better understand
how to get from where they are to where they want to be and have a higher
probability of achieving their goals in the health professions. HCC provides
paid educational opportunities to undergraduates interested in pursuing careers
in healthcare management and policy, health education, community health, and
other public health options. HCC also offer Boston internship opportunities in
nursing, physical therapy and speech therapy. HCC do not offer medical
internships, however students considering medicine that also having a strong
interest in exploring other or related health career options will be

GRADUATE STUDENT INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Spring semester 2007
The City of Cambridge, Department of Public Works is seeking a graduate student
for a spring semester internship with the Recycling Division.
Under the supervision of the Recycling Director, the student will work 15-20
hours/week, a results-oriented internship good for academic credit. This is an
unpaid position.

Project Description
Since 1991, City Ordinance has mandated recycling at all buildings that generate
waste in Cambridge. This includes any "designated recyclable" that is more than
5% of their waste stream including: cardboard, paper, cans & bottles, wood
waste, leaf & yard waste, waste oil (kitchen/car), scrap metal and vehicle
batteries. Many businesses are in compliance, but many are not. The intern
will:
* Become fully versed in the Commercial Recycling Rules & Regulations and
recycling options available to Cambridge businesses;
* Understand past and current enforcement efforts and procedures;
* Inspect commercial waste set out in business districts including Central,
Harvard, Inman, Kendall, and Porter Squares
* Identify Cambridge businesses that are clearly not recycling;
* Communicate with business owners in person, on the phone and in writing;
* Identify commercial landlords that are responsible for several business
tenants in the same building;
* Provide information and on-site technical assistance to non-recycling
businesses and commercial buildings;
* Follow-up to ensure that commercial recycling programs have been
established;
* Accurately track outreach efforts in the business recycling database;
* Recruit businesses nominations for the City's annual Go Green awards from
businesses that are recycling and reducing waste;
* Submit weekly email updates on work progress and ultimately a final
project summary;
· Other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
* Must be confidant and comfortable with strong communication skills, both
written and verbal
· Good problem solving skills
· Self-directed and motivated
· Diligent follow-up and recordkeeping
· Interest in environmental issues
