Sun 10/11 update

Sun 10/11  My birthday and Lore's.  Joe is awake and aware of us.   
They moved him from the ICU to the Transitional Care Unit.  3 patients  
per nurse, rather than 2 patients per nurse.  A nice BD present. Fewer  
tubes and needles.  Temp is almost normal, though it was up a bit  
earlier.  Giving him more food through the nasal  tube.  Tomorrow they  
have to do some minor surgery on his incision, pretty normal they tell  
me.  They'll also evaluate his ability to swallow.  They weren't able  
to reduce his respirator today, but maybe tomorrow. For our BDs, Lore,  
Tim, Rusty, Tim's parents & sister Jenny & Jag are going out for a  
fancy dinner.
