Here are a couple events to round out May! As always, if you have a
suggestion for an event or an issue regarding off-campus life that could be
relevant for discussion with the GSC, please let us know. If you have an

Description: Meet up with off-campus students to enjoy Sunday brunch at
Zoe's, a 50s style diner with both Greek and American flair! HCA off-campus
will cover up to $15, any additional is at the cost of the attendees
(cash). Attendees will be selected at random from the signup list and
notified by email 24 hours before the event. You will be notified if you
are selected only.

Description: Come join us for dinner at the always-delicious Life Alive,
where they make veggies really pop! HCA off-campus will cover up to $15,

3. xTalks digital discourses: Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman "Expertise in
Science & Engineering: How it is Learned and Taught"
When: Monday, May 19th 11:00am - 12:00pm

Description: MIT Office of Digital Learning, co-sponsored with the MIT
Science Policy Initiative, presents Carl Wieman. Nobel Laureate, educator,
and MIT alum Carl Wieman will discuss his work on education reform.
- How has cognitive psychology research illuminated what it means to "think
like a scientist or engineer"? How are those abilities developed?
- Prof. Wieman (UC Boulder) will show comparative data on the learning of
expertise that results from different teaching methods in college courses.
- Free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be
