Dear fellow off-campus graduate students,
We're going to bring back a "did you know?" section at the beginning of
every off-campus newsletter. There are many perks and programs available to
us as grad students at MIT, and sometimes they slip through the cracks. For
this month, as the Hubway bike share program prepares to re-open the full
network for Spring, remember that you get a heavily discounted yearly
membership as a student! Check
http://web.mit.edu/facilities/transportation/bicycling.html for details.
Below are some opportunities for the upcoming week in the off-campus
community. As always, if you have a suggestion for an event or an issue
regarding off-campus life that could be relevant for discussion with the
GSC, please let us know. If you have an event that you would like
advertised to this list, use this form: http://goo.gl/QtXtNP . We're always
looking for help brainstorming and organizing new events.
Your off-campus co-chairs,
Luke, Kelsey, and George

2. Restaurant Week #1: Bronwyn "Medieval Style Dining"
When: Tuesday, March 18, 8:30pm-~10:15pm
Where: Bronwyn, 255 Washington Street, Somerville, MA 02143

Description: Get your medieval knight armor polished, because we have a
12-person round-table Germanic dining experience on the horizon. (Not
exactly sure what this means? Neither are we, but the food is supposed to
be delicious!) Socialize with fellow off-campus students, discuss
off-campus community and safety issues, and try out this German restaurant
in Union Square!
This is a fixed-price Restaurant Week multi-course menu that's a little too
pricey for us to cover in its entirety. Each attendee will be required to
bring $20 in cash, with HCA Off-Campus covering the balance. Alcoholic
beverages, if desired, must be paid for separately (in addition to the
$20). Spouses and significant others welcome if included in RSVP.
NOTE: You can only sign up for ONE of the food events this month. Attendees
will be selected at random for this dinner on the evening of Friday, 2/14.

RSVP: https://signup.mit.edu:444/signup.php?id=1394453004
Description: Restaurant week is THE time to eat out in Boston! (Called
Dining Out Boston this year). Tapas is a Spanish style of eating where
several small plates are shared! It's a lot of fun and a perfect way to
meet & mingle with your fellow off-campus students. NOTICE that there is a
difference for this event. Since (despite restaurant week) it is expensive,
you will need to bring $20 cash to the event ($40 for a pair). GSC HCA
Off-campus will pay the rest of the bill (still substantial!) Also,
non-alcoholic beverages will not be included. Spouses and significant
others welcome if included in RSVP.
