Happy New Year Off-Campus Grads,
I hope your holidays were good and that you've had a productive IAP. As 
the new spring term is nearing, off-campus is working on some fun 
events. We're kicking off the first week of the term with a dinner and a 
brunch.

1. Dinner with the MIT Police
Thursday, February 5, 6pm
Stata Center, 32-144

Come enjoy a FREE non-pizza dinner and talk with MIT police officers. Find
out what services the campus police offer to grad students and helpful hints
about living off-campus. Ask any question that you might have at this
informal dinner. Please RSVP to jtc at mit.edu if you plan to attend to ensure
enough food for everyone. If you forget to RSVP, that's okay, still stop by.

This event is open to off-campus graduates and their spouses/partners 
and children.

2. Off-Campus Brunch
Sunday, February 8, 11am
Hei La Moon

Join fellow off-campus students for brunch at Hei La Moon for dim sum. 
The even is open to 20 off-campus graduates (spouses/partners welcome to 
join). The brunch will be partially subsidized and will cost each 
graduate $3. RSVP is required. Email sjg at mit.edu to RSVP. Priority will 
be given to off-campus grads who have not attended a brunch this 
academic year.

The off-campus brunches are very popular, so make sure to sign up now.

3. Free Ice Skating and Subsidized Dinner
On Sunday February 1, students will be taken for a late afternoon of ice 
skating at the Frog Pond (Boston Commons) followed by dinner in the 
city.  Skate rental and rink admission will be fully subsidized, while 
dinner (location TBD) will be partially subsidized up to $15. Any 
additional costs will be at the student's own expense.  All MIT graduate 
students are welcome to RSVP.  Attendance is capped at 30
people, and those invited will be determined based on the first 30 
people to RSVP.  If you are accepted on the list, you will be notified 
by e-mail.

4. Pizza Super Bowl Party
Sunday, Feb 1, 6pm
Ashdown Hulsizer room
You are invited to the 'Super Bowl Party' with FREE Pizza in the Ashdown 
Hulsizer Room.  The game will be show on big screen.  This event is 
sponsored by GSC and is open to all MIT graduate students.

5. Welcome-Back Chocolate Feast
Monday, Feb 2, 8-10:30pm, Sidney Pacific MP Room

This is the event of the year for the chocolate lovers and others!!!

- Chocolate fountain surrounded by all kinds of fruits (bananas,
pineapples, apples, strawberries and more), pretzels, and pound cake.
- Chocolate samples and cakes.
- Other kinds of dessert and cakes.
- Wine bar only for $1/glass (ID Required)

And Live music to create a perfect atmosphere for you to enjoy your
Chocolate dream of the year!

You are invited for the biggest party welcoming the Spring semester!  On

'ARABIAN NIGHTS'.  This includes 2 dance floors, LIVE Band, Belly dance 
performance, free food, drinks by Thirsty Ear and more!  Save the date

7. Trader Joe's Shuttle
We are pleased to announce that MIT Parking and Transportation will operate
a grocery shuttle to Trader Joe's and the Whole Foods Market. This service
will operate every* Saturday** **beginning on January 24**, **2009 and
ending on** **May 23, 2009. The shuttle will leave campus every 30 minutes,
between 11AM and 1:47 PM**,* and arrive at Trader Joe's and the Whole Foods
Market per the attached schedule. This shuttle is made possible through a
generous donation.
