Hi Off-Campus Grads,
This weekend is full of festive events, so make sure to get out and 
enjoy before the winter sets in. Off-campus is running a dinner this 
Saturday to MuLan (see item 1) and is having a Halloween Costume Party 
and BBQ next Friday, so make sure to win the best costume prize.

1) Join us for a dinner of authentic Taiwanese food, just down the 
street at MuLan (228 Broadway). Pay only $5 and MIT will pay the rest. 
7pm on Saturday, October 25. Contact Steve Goldfless (sjg at mit.edu) by 
Friday, 5pm to RSVP.

2) You are all invited to Eastgate's Annual Pumpkin Carving Party this 
Saturday 10/25 at 1pm in the Penthouse Lounge!  If the weather is 
terrific we will move the event to the Eastgate lawn.
 
PRIZES will be awarded for the funniest, scariest, prettiest, most 
detailed and most creative pumpkins... as voted by YOU the judges.  
Prizes also given for the BEST COSTUMES: adult, boy and girl!!  At 
2:30pm the voting begins...come and vote even if you didn't carve a pumpkin.
 
Generously sponsored by the GSC and ECA, all of your carving supplies 
will be provided, including the pumpkins! And there will be pizza & soft 
drinks for all the carvers!

3) Oktoberfest
Saturday, Oct 25, 6-9pm
Sidney-Pacific (NW86) Multipurpose Room

Join us for our big fall festival, Oktoberfest. We will be offering 3 
kinds of beer, 3 kinds of sausages, handmade soft pretzels, and more 
while listening to live music!

Tickets will be sold in advance for only $5 per person, and you will be 
able to taste all 3 kinds of sausages and beers! There is limited 
seating, so make sure you buy yours soon. Ticket sale will be conducted 
in Lobby 10 from 3 to 5pm on Tuesday 10/21 and Wednesday 10/22.

4) WMBR Live presents Drug Rug w/ Apple Betty and FORTRAN, a great 
lineup of local
bands.

Saturday, October 25 at 8pm in the MIT Student Center Coffeehouse (3rd 
floor).
$3 suggested donation. Free food.

Drug Rug (http://www.myspace.com/drugrugdude), one of Boston's most  
prominent
upcoming bands, has been featured by Pitchfork and NPR, and  named "Band 
of the
Day" by Spin magazine.  All-girl trio Apple Betty
(http://www.myspace.com/applebettyrox) has been featured by the Phoenix and
Globe for their raucous poprock.  MIT's own FORTRAN
(http://www.myspace.com/123fortran) has turned heads in Boston and are 
quickly
becoming darlings of the Weekly Dig.

5) Jazz Brunch
Sunday, Oct 26, noon-1pm, SP Multi-Purpose Room.
No doubt about it ~ a hot, fresh-cooked meal just tastes better with
the smooth sounds of a live jazz band on the side. Come out and see
for yourself at the SP Fall Extravaganza Jazz Brunch! We will fill
your belly with food and your soul with sound  :-)  You do not want to
miss this one.

6) Pumpkin Carving
Sunday, Oct 26, 5-9pm, SP Multipurpose Room.
Join us for traditional Halloween activity of pumpkin carving! We
provide the pumpkins and tools you need, you do the art!

Last year the pictures from our pumpkins made it to the MIT
front-page. Let's keep the tradition!

Snacks and refreshments will be provided

7) Off-Campus Halloween Party & BBQ
Friday, October 31, 8-10pm
71 Fulkerson St Apt 106, Cambridge 02141

The GSC off-campus subcommittee will be organizing a Halloween costume 
party and BBQ at an off-campus apartment. The event is open to all 
off-campus graduate students and their spouses/partners/families. Snacks 
and drinks will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own adult 
beverages. Prize for best costume of the night, so get working on it!
