Dear GSC Housing and Community Affairs Committee members,

My name is Julie Halverson and I manage the Violence Against Women Act
grant that was awarded to the Institute in 2005.  Included in the grant
proposal was an objective to improve resources for and outreach to
graduate students about sexual violence, relationship violence, and
stalking. This semester we will be focusing on graduate students and
relationship violence.  We would like to engage as many students as
possible and support those in need of services. 

If these issues are important to you or the students you represent, you
are welcome to join a Community Response Group meeting on Thursday,
Sept. 21, from 2-4pm in E25-401.  We will be talking about graduate
student programming and brainstorming for the next grant proposal which
is due in the Spring.  We have also invited the Asian Task Force Against
Domestic Violence to speak about dating and domestic violence issues and
how to help someone experiencing violence in a relationship.

If you would like graduate student issues to be represented in the next
grant proposal or learn more about the grant, I encourage you to attend
the CRG meetings this fall and represent grad student interests. 
Attached is a summary outlining some of our recent achievements.  If you
