Hi all,

Here are some of the major events from the meeting and the minutes. My
apologies for any typos or any important things I may have missed in the
highlights.

*Highlights/Lowlights:*

   - Unfortunately, there were no candidates for either HCA chair position.
If any candidates come forward, we will schedule a special election
meeting. It would be ideal for GSC cohesiveness if new chairs were elected
before the GSC Leadership retreat on the 27th and 28th of April.

If you or a friend think something about MIT is broken and are willing to
make noise and do some work to get them fixed, let us know. Malvika and I
will be happy to meet up to help you figure out how you/they can contribute
most effectively to improving conditions for graduate students at MIT
(maybe by being an HCA chair!) and to share some lessons learned that might
help with whatever role you/they take on.

   - In happier news, I'm very glad to report that Nasser Almasri was
elected to be the next chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Subcommittee. I'm
confident that DIS will be in good hands under his leadership.

   - *To Subcommittee Chairs: *Remember to send us your budget proposals,
including both the request and how you plan to use it. We'll need this by
April 27th/28th. If you can give us some information about how important
each use is to you, that would be helpful. It would also be helpful to know
what non-GSC funding you anticipate, if applicable (sources and numbers).
Malvika and I would be happy to meet up to look over your budgets and to
make sure that we have all of the information we need to advocate on your
   behalf.

   - Several grad dorms seem to have trouble getting promised
repairs/upgrades to happen in a timely fashion. HCA chairs + GSC officers
will see if we can get things to happen more quickly, or otherwise increase
accountability for this sort of thing.
