Family Day at Westgate
Explore art together.

  *   Time: 10 to 11:30 am; 1 to 2:30 pm (see below for details)

Join the MIT List Visual Arts Center for a day of art and exploration at special off-site workshops at Westgate. Celebrate public art on the west side of campus, including Tony Smith’s For Marjorie, and make hands-on art projects led by friendly staff. FREE and open to all; no advanced registration required.

Schedule of Activities
Sculpted Paper Workshop I: 10 to 11:30 am
For children under 5 years old. Look closely at Smith’s monumental steel sculpture to explore color and shape. Then, take inspiration to create your own wearable paper sculptures using easy techniques.
Sculpted Paper Workshop II: 1 to 2:30 pm
For children over 5 years old. Explore geometry, form, and volume in Smith’s twisting sculpture. Then, translate your discoveries into your own paper sculptures sculptures through twisting, folding, crimping, and fraying.
