[Gsc-hca-family] GSC Family Subcommittee Nov 13 meeting minutes

Hi everyone,

Please find attached the minutes from our last meeting on Wednesday. There are a couple of announcements I would like to make:

1. Sarah Andries and Brittney Jenson were appointed as new co-chairs for the subcommittee. I am very excited to have a new team in charge – congratulations to both!

2. The GSC has received (for the second year in a row) a significant surplus from the Career Fair profits. This time it is over $150,000. The GSC is now looking for proposals from its members on how that money could be used to serve the different grad student populations at MIT. The Family Subcommittee should also create a list of proposals on how some of that money could be used to support MIT families. It seems that there is a need for proposals ranging from roughly $1,000 up to $50,000. Sarah, Brittney and I will be in charge of compiling that list, but all subcommittee members are encouraged to help. So please, get in touch with us if you have an idea on how this money should be used to support grad families!

The next family subcommittee meeting will take place December 2nd at 5:30pm in Westgate lounge. Free food and babysitting as always!
