Hello all:

If you'd like to have some input on how MIT is run, the Institute
Committees are the way to do it.

A couple that you might be interested in are the "Family and Work Council",
"Committee On Student Life", and the "Presidential Advisory Cabinet".

These are important positions that can have a lasting impact on the
policies that MIT enacts.

So if you care about how MIT deals with an issue in the future, do
something about it.

Dear all,

*Get excited!!! GSC Institute Committee Representative applications are now
open!*

*Want to make a lasting impact?*

Institute Committees form a vital link between the MIT administration,
students, and the MIT community in providing recommendations for the future
direction of the institute and making key policy decisions in a wide array
of key areas. As an Institute Committee representative, you'll have the
opportunity to work behind-the-scenes with MIT faculty and administrators
on critical issues with lasting impact. Council Representatives who also
serve as an Institute Representative qualify for additional departmental
funding every funding cycle.

More information about the 28 Institute committees can be found
here<http://gsc.mit.edu/committees/nb/institutecommittees/>

Also, I would like to highlight a new opportunity this year to serve on the
Presidential Advisory Cabinet (PAC). For the first time in history students
will be given a direct channel to advise the MIT President directly on
student issues. I highly encourage you to apply for this unique and
important position!

*Presidential Advisory Cabinet (PAC)*

The Presidential Advisory Cabinet (PAC) is a student advisory body to MIT
President Rafael Reif. The body consists of four undergraduate and four
graduate students (including the presidents of the Graduate Student Council
and the Undergraduate Association who serve as exofficio members). This
body serves at the pleasure of the MIT president in a purely advisory
capacity on various issues identified by the President concerning the
student body. Student members are nominated through the GSC and UA
nominations boards and serve one-year terms starting July 1st every year.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

Alex

On behalf of the GSC Nominations Board <http://gsc.mit.edu/committees/nb/>
