[Gsc-hca-family] [Gsc-hca-all] Stepping down, and a new opportunity!

Hi all,

I'm writing to let you know that I will be standing down from my position
as HCA co-chair, effective immediately.

Obviously this is not something I do lightly - I'm not happy about the
situation, but I'm confident that this is the right decision to make.
Without going into detail, I just wasn't able to fit the position into my
life here at MIT. I've talked with my fantastic co-chair Randi as well as
the rest of the GSC ExComm team, and we agree this is the best option for
both myself and the GSC.

I don't know if it needs to be said, but I'm going to say it anyway: I
still really believe in the mission of the GSC and the work it does. It’s
been one hell of a start to the year already, and I'm sure it’s going to be
an amazing year. Though I've already begun stepping back from my HCA
responsibilities and other commitments, I will definitely keep the GSC in
mind as the year progresses and my situation changes. What I'm saying is -
you haven't seen the last of me! I'll be around when I can, and I hope
to in time help out more once I've sorted things out.

This does leave the issue of finding another HCA co-chair to take over from
me - I'm going to let Randi talk more about that. I'll be there to help the
new co-chair transition into the job as smoothly as possible. I'd also say:
if you are put off by applying because of my experience - don't be. This
job is great, and the opportunities it offers to create positive change are
enormous. Please feel free to email me at idunning at mit.edu to talk about
the taking over the job, my resignation, or anything else thats on your
mind.

See you around!

- Iain Dunning
