[Gsc-hca-family] [Gsc-hca-all] Cost of Living Survey Discussion, Thursday, Jun 9, 12pm

Hi all,

HCA will run a Cost of Living (CoL) survey discussion on Thursday Jun 9, starting from 12pm. The CoL survey is run once every 4 years. It is an important survey to help GSC and administrators understand the breakdown of grad students' living expenses. It's also the main data source that supports the adjustments of graduate students' stipends in the next 4 years. The CoL survey is the top priority for HCA in the fall.

We plan to mainly review the 2007 survey and its conclusions, followed by a high-level discussion about what should be revised for the 2011 survey, and what other questions to be asked to draw more interesting and useful conclusions.The 2007 survey questions are attached for your references.

We are currently seeking leaders and members for the CoL survey team. Please email us at gsc-hca at mit.edu if you are interested in joining our team, or know someone who is interested. Also, feel free to email us for any comments / questions about the survey.
